Legendary Music is proud to announce the release of what is sure to be one of 2009’s most memorable hip-hop records, SAY G&E!. On the 14-track collection, The Grouch teams up once again with fellow Living Legends member and producer, Eligh, for a perfect balance of straightforward wordplay and high-concept rhymes. The duo’s third collaboration, SAY G&E!, features notable guests: Slug of Atmosphere, Pigeon John, Gift of Gab, Mistah F.A.B., Sage Francis, Mystic, and LA’s latest sensation, Blu, along with guest beat production from Flying Lotus, super-producer Rick Rock, and Zion I’s Amp Live, who’s received major blogospheric activity for his Radiohead guerilla remix project. As a founding member of the original D.I.Y. collective, The Living Legends, The Grouch has been at the forefront of the west coast’s independent rap movement for over a decade. Outside the Legends, The Grouch has released 7 solo efforts including Fuck the Dumb (2000), Crusader for Justice (2003) and No More Greener Grasses (2004), and Heroes in the City of Dope (2006) with Bay Area stalwarts Zion I, among others. For those who heard The Grouch’s 2008 Show You the World or have seen the "Bay to LA" featured in a National TV commercial for PSP/Playstation, it’s clear that this emcee will continue to be a permanent fixture on the independent music landscape. Undoubtedly, 2008 was The Grouch’s breakout year: Show You The World garnered accolades by critics at The Source, XLR8R, and URB, to name a few. In addition, the video for "Artsy” was played on MTV, MTV2, and got over 600,000 plays on Youtube. Eligh, who produced most of the album, met Scarub and Murs in the early 90s and formed a group called 3 Meloncholy Gypsy’s (3MG). Eventually, Eligh moved up to the Bay Area, where he met The Grouch and Sunspot. There, the Living Legends officially formed. In addition to this much anticipated return of G&E, Eligh delivers another near and dear collaborative project, this one with his Mom. Eligh & Jo Wilkinson’s “On Sacred Ground: Mother & Son” is a “hybrid of music genres that infuses so many styles that you’re not sure whether to throw your hands up and say ‘ho!’ or hold hands and sing along,” according to Sage Francis. “That’s a good confusion” Guest producers include Flying Lotus (“Old Souls”), Amp Live (“!Boom!”) and Rick Rock (“Denial”).
